Art on the Square returns to Belleville, IL this weekend

The art in the square begins on Friday.

The annual arts event showcases over 100 artists from around the world and includes works in ceramics, glass, mixed media, painting, drawing/printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, crafts, digital/graphic design, photography and wood.

The three-day event will include live entertainment, a food court, artist demonstrations and a children’s play area.

The event hours are 4-9 p.m. Friday, May 13, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, May 14, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, May 15. Art on the Square is free and open to the public. No animals please.

  • 4-6 p.m. — Artist demonstration – Rita Wells, Fiber

  • 6-9pm — Janet Evra – Wine Court

  • 6-9pm — Artist demonstration – Lois Holthaus, Zentangle

  • 6 to 9 p.m. — Artist demonstration – Chauncey Fowler, watercolor

Saturday May 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. — Don James Quartet – Wine Court

  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Artist demonstration – Nancy Avdoian, Watercolor

  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Artist demonstration – Sally Farrington, watercolour/mixed media

  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Artist Demonstration – Terri Cheatham, Wire Wrapping

  • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. — The children’s art garden is open. This area will include several art projects for the enjoyment of children.

  • 2 p.m.-5 p.m. — Beabout Jazz – Wine Court

  • 2 to 5 p.m. — Artist Demonstration – Terri Cheatham, Wire Wrapping

  • 2 to 5 p.m. — Artist Demonstration – Michael Anderson, Paint Makers

  • 2 to 5 p.m. — Artist demonstration – Peggy Derhake, mixed media

  • 5-8 p.m. — Artist demonstration – Susan Kunz, drawing

  • 5-8 p.m. — Artist demonstration – Janet Moreiko-Dagen, Jewelery

  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Artist demonstration – Carol Heckenberger, Pastel

  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — Artist demonstration – Beth Meier, colored pencils/pastels

  • Noon to 4 p.m. — The children’s art garden is open. This area will include several art projects for the enjoyment of children.

  • 2-5 p.m. — Artist demonstration – Jay Burgmann, Watercolour/Gouache

  • 2-5 p.m. — Artist demonstration – Betty Burgmann, Acrylic

  • 2:15 p.m.-5 p.m. — Trio Louis Michael – Wine court

SHUTTLE SERVICE:

A shuttle must arrive at the Belleville Scheel Street MetroLink station 10 minutes before Art on the Square start times each day. Return trips will be made every 15 minutes. The last trip each evening will depart from Main Street 20 minutes after the scheduled end of the day. The shuttle terminates at East Main and North Jackson streets.
