Henry Winkler learned what a ‘DILF’ is at the 2022 Emmys

After winning Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2018 Emmys for his portrayal of actor/acting teacher Gene Cousineau on HBO’s barry, Henry Winkler returned to the awards for a third nomination for the role this year. While walking the red carpet, Getting to Hollywood’s Kit Hoover and Mario Lopez made Winkler read thirsty tweets about him. It culminated in a hilarious, yet understandable encounter when he came across a word he’d never seen before: DILF, aka “Daddy/Daddy, I’d like to fuck.”

At the risk of infantilizing him (or the contrary?), I must say that he is the one who has the most response from dad, until the “I’m going to keep this” by putting the printed tweet in his suit jacket. The tweet seems to have been deleted, or maybe the account went private after their thirst for Winkler aired, but I wonder if they’ve explored that further in his filmography, like the show Happy Days.

Although I don’t see him that way at all, I loved watching him flirt and pet Detective Janice Moss (Paula Newsome) on barry. The show has continued to improve and challenge audiences in many ways, but I really miss that dynamic. Those who call him a DILF — and I — would love to see him in a rom-com where he can give off all the daddy energy throughout the movie.

Hollywood, take note.
