“Kansas Through the Eyes of an Artist” Opens Jan. 22 – The Kansan



Exhibition “Kansas through the eyes of an artist” at the Carriage Factory Art Gallery. The exhibition opens on January 22, 2022 and ends on March 18, 2022.

NEWTON—To celebrate Kansas Day, the Carriage Factory Art Gallery is hosting the fifth annual juried exhibition, “Kansas Through the Eyes of an Artist.”

The exhibition will include pastels, oils, watercolors, acrylics, colored pencils, photography, mixed media and sculpture.

The exhibition is judged by Aaron Jackson Bowman. Prizes for the best pieces total $750. The first place winner will receive $300, $200 for second place, $100 for third place and three $50 honorable mentions.

Artists included in the exhibition are Velera Adams, Lila Bartel, Jean Cook, Elizabeth Corbett, Kammy Downs, Shawn Dekler, David Edigar, Glen Edigar, Betty Duffy Eller, Marilyn Friesen, Barbara Gabel, Conastance Gehring, Mary Goering, Diane Goldschmidt , Pam Hayes, Jay Holobach, Janis Jamesby, Bonnies Johnson, Mary Johnson, Juris Krievins, Diane Lawrence, Arley Loffler, Kristine Luber, Gail Lutsch, Gene Marsh, Kelly Nachtigal, Irene Neilsen, Virgil Penner, Eden Quispe, Connie Rhodes, Karen Robben, Kathy Schroeder, Jeffery Sparks, Kim Taggart, Michelle Voth, Kathy Waltner, Jennifer Weigel.

An opening reception will be held on January 8, 22 and from 1 to 3 p.m. on January 23. The Carriage Factory Art Gallery is asking for RSVPs to either reception at 316-284-2749.

The works featured in the exhibition cost between $100 and $2,900 and are available for purchase. A video and digital catalog detailing the works in the exhibition will also be available on the gallery’s website.
