Congressman Rick Larsen invites high school students who live or attend school in Washington’s Second Congressional District to showcase their artistic talents in the 2022 Congressional Art Contest. Forms should be mailed to the Larsen office no later than Monday, May 2, 5:00 p.m. PDT.
“I encourage the many talented young artists in Northwest Washington to submit their work to the 2022 Congressional Art Competition,” Larsen said. “I’m excited to see this year’s submissions and showcase the talent Washington’s Second District has to offer.”
The United States House of Representatives holds the annual High School Visual Arts Competition to encourage and recognize artistic talent in each congressional district. The contest is open to all high school students (grades 9-12) who live or attend school in the Second District; students can check if they are residents of the second district or attend school in the district here. All works submitted must be original in concept, design and execution. Interested students can find details and a full list of contest rules on the Larsen website.
The winning work will be exhibited for one year at the United States Capitol. The winning student artist and a tutor will also be flown to Washington, DC to be recognized at an awards ceremony on a date to be determined. Last year, Susanna Lee of Lynnwood High School won the district-wide competition with her play “You and Your Future.” Since 1982, more than 650,000 students have participated in the National Congressional Art Competition.
Registration forms must be signed by the student, a parent or guardian, and a member of the school faculty. Entry forms and artwork submissions must be sent to the Everett office prior to Monday, May 2, at 5 p.m. Students who need help delivering their artwork to the Larsen office can call Kevin Phan at 425-252-3188.
Signed forms can also be mailed or delivered with artwork to Larsen’s office in Everett:
