Did you know that Saturday September 18 is Museum Day? Yes, on this special day, get free entry to a variety of museums in Birmingham and beyond. Here are the participating museums.

Beauty behind bars

A major exhibition opens on Friday September 17 at the Institute of Visual Arts Abrome-Engel of the UAB (AEIVA). Title Marking Time: Art in the Age of Mass Incarceration, it features works of art created by people in prison and works by non-incarcerated artists concerned with state repression, erasure and imprisonment. Saturday September 18 marks World Water Watch Day, a time to do your part to protect our water sources. To help raise awareness and engage in water conservation in the Birmingham community, the McWane Science Center is hosting special programming on this important day. Buy your tickets in advance.
