Omaha Cathedral Art Project to Host Several “Las Culturas” Fall Events


OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Cathedral Arts Project (CAP) will host a variety of events this fall that will explore contributions to cathedral culture from the Spanish-speaking world.

CAP’s seasonal theme “Las Culturas” will include in-person and virtual events including a presentation on tequila cultivation, a webinar on Willa Cather’s Death comes for the archbishop, and a new art exhibit showcasing the Hispanic arts of Nebraska.

The seasonal fall theme will feature five distinct events:

  • Quixote Puppet Film, a virtual puppet version of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes, at 2 p.m. on October 8
  • Opening reception of Expressión de Arte, the exhibition “Expressión de Arte” will present the Hispanic arts from all over Nebraska, from 1 pm to 3 pm in the Sunderland Gallery of Saint Cécile Cathedral
  • Jose Garcia on the Use of Altarpieces in Prayer, a presentation by a prominent cultural advocate of the Hispanic community in Omaha, at 3 p.m. on October 17
  • Tequila culture from pre-Columbian ceremonies to cocktail hour today, Jose Garcia hosts a presentation exploring the history of tequila culture, at 6 p.m. on November 5
  • Death comes for the archbishop Webinar, CAP will host a webinar on Willa Cather’s 1927 novel, Death Comes for the Archbishop, at 6 p.m. on November 18

The Cathedral Arts Project (CAP) was founded in 1985 to promote and celebrate the performing and visual arts in the historic Sainte-Cécile d’Omaha Cathedral.
