For the editor:

With the support of our contributors and sponsors, DPAW’s Unleash the PAWsibilities Youth Creative Arts Contests 4 was a colorful success. We had 20 submissions for the first year.

This year we had 69 submissions celebrating dogs as well as creatures large and small. The family celebration was held August 26 at the Gleason Family YMCA with a gallery, prizes, raffle and the Wareham Pack Walkers Comfort Canine Team. Facchetti & Facchetti donated the trophies presented to this year’s winners: Nova Lomp, Ava Ostiguy, Jayden Medeiros, Eliana Silva & Gia Goodwin.

Thanks to businesses and organizations in the region, EACH participant received a raffle prize; Water Wizz of Cape Cod, Tina Jarvis, Onset Bay Association, Hyline Cruises, Jersey Mike’s, Nemasket Kayak Center, Marc Anthony’s Pizzeria, The Lulu Foundation, Minkle Boys Catering, Staples, Gone Country Creamery, Onset Bay Center, Buttonwood Zoo, Ryan’s Family Amusements, Perry’s Last Stand, Gleason Family YMCA, Onset Beach Patio & Grill & The Art Farm.

Our judges were Marcia Hickey, Gretchen Pyne, Mary Nyman, Anthi Frangiadis and Dianne Enzian. Wareham Public Schools/Beyond School Time, Gleason Family YMCA, Wareham Free Library, TD Bank and a United Way mini-grant supported by promotion and advertising.

The Main Street Post Office will host the Gallery or September. For families unable to attend, visit the free Wareham Library from August 30 to September 13. As the number of entrants continues to grow, as well as sponsors and collaborators, we look forward to surpassing 75 visual and literary submissions Unleash the PAWsibilities 5!
