Tap into your creative side this weekend with the Southwest School of Art’s Fiesta Arts Fair.
Ranked in the top 50 arts and crafts festivals by Art Fair SourceBook, Party Arts Fair is an annual art-focused fundraising event that, since 1973, has supported the Southwest School of Art. Over the years, the San Antonio festival has grown to attract around 12,000 people a year, and it’s only expected to keep growing.
The celebration of art includes more than 100 artists from all over the United States who share their mixed media works, metal works, ceramics, jewelry, photographs and paintings. In addition to the large number of works of art on display, the fair features live music from local artists and a wide assortment of food and drink. Here are some things to know before you go.
When is it?
Fiesta Arts Fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 3 at the Southwest School of Art, 300 Augusta.
How much does it cost?
Tickets are $20 at the door (or $15 with a student ID, $5 for kids ages 5-12, and free for kids under 5).
Cash and credit are accepted at the front door, but cash is required to purchase coupons onsite. Coupons are required to purchase food and beverages at the festival stalls.
What kind of art will I see?
Almost every medium you can imagine is on display at the fair. Browse the full list of artists herebut expect to see woodworking, paintings, photographs, prints, metalwork, drawings, fiber and leather work, digital art and 2 and 3-D multimedia works .
Should I bring the children?
While certainly known for its art, the festival is also known for its family-friendly activities. Walk through the park to find the Garden of young artists, a hidden area devoted to the creativity of children and adolescents and a space where children can create their own mosaics, flower crowns, monotypes, drawings and more.
Where can I get a snack?
A variety of food and beverages are available for purchase, including roasted corn, fajita tacos, acai bowls, gourmet mac and cheese, sausage wraps, refreshing lemonade, and margaritas.
