Youth Summer Arts Camps Return to Newport Visual and Performing Arts Centers | Community

The Oregon Coast Arts Council is excited to offer a fun and engaging variety of visual and performing arts summer camps for youth ages 9-18. Each camp lasts a week and includes high quality art teachers who tailor each camp to their participants.

“We have both visual arts camps and drama camps to choose from this summer. There is something for every taste ! We know that young people have gone through a parcel So over the past year, we’ve designed camps that will focus on PLEASURE, creativity and self-expression. said OCCA Director of Arts Education Sara Siggelkow.

These will be the first in-person programs offered by OCCA since before the pandemic. As class sizes are very limited, families are encouraged to register today! More information, including the camp’s COVID protocols, is available now at www.coastarts.org/camps.

The Oregon Coast Council for the Arts manages the Newport Visual Arts Center and the Newport Performing Arts Center, and serves as the regional arts council for the central Oregon coast.

Dates: July 12-16, 9 am-12pm

Ages: Students 6-8 – all experience levels are welcome

Instructors: Amy Pattison, Eileen Hearne, Sara Siggelkow

Tuition fees: $ 135 – scholarships are available

Art Camp at the Newport Visual Arts Center provides an incredible opportunity for your young artists to have fun and explore artistic creation. The camp includes a variety of activities, games, outdoor adventures and FUN! The projects help to build on a basis of artistic techniques and concepts. The resulting work will be part of a public exhibition at the Newport Visual Arts Center. Introduce your young child to the movements and rhythms of creativity, as well as the colors, patterns and materials of artistic creation.

Ages: Students 11-18 – all experience levels are welcome

Tuition fees: $ 225 – scholarships are available

Monday-Thursday: 9 am-3pm

Friday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rehearsal), 6.30 p.m. (performance)

This week-long drama camp at the Newport Performing Arts Center explores the theme: “Shakespeare ON Love. Participants will work on a show (costumes included!) Built on a collection of scenes from several works by Shakespeare, all involving LOVE. Some are funny. Some are serious. Some are stupid. All will challenge the players and demand excellence. And who knows… William Shakespeare himself might make an appearance!

Dates: July 12-16, 9 am-4pm

Ages: Students 10-13 – all experience levels are welcome

Instructors: Nathan Bush, Stacy Fischer

Tuition fees: $ 225 – scholarships are available

Join us at the Newport Performing Arts Center in a creative, supportive and encouraging environment. Discover the creativity of the theater while making new friends and having fun! Camp staff includes accredited and experienced performing arts instructors who will help students explore the artistic process of creating theater in a space where they can express themselves, connect with others, and be who they are. Young actors of all levels are welcome, from novices to seasoned actors. All you need is a little curiosity and love for the performance!

Appointment: July 26-30, 9 am-4pm

Age: Students 9-12 – all experience levels welcome

Tuition fees: $ 225 – scholarships are available

Art Camp at the Newport Visual Arts Center provides an incredible opportunity for your young artists to have fun and explore artistic creation.
